Northern Ireland, Malta, and Scotland are the countries that the filmmakers choose for filming the first season of Game of Thrones. The internal scenes are mostly filmed in the Paint Hall Studio in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Northern Ireland is also the country where they filmed most of the external or on-location scenes. Among those locations are Shane’s Castle, Castle Ward, Cairncastle and Tollymore Forest Park and others.
Medina, the island of Gozo, and Fort Manoel on Malta are the locations that represented scenes in the south, for example, Kings Landing.
