Alcázar is a type of Moorish castles built in Spain during the Muslim rule. The Alcázar of Seville is an example of Mudéjar architecture which is known to be one of the most beautiful architecture styles on the Iberian Peninsula. In 1987 the palace in Seville vas declared as a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO. Today part of the palace is still used by the Spanish Royal family and is closed for visitors.
