Interesting about von Trapp villa filming location
The pathway from the house to the lake was constructed for The Sound of Music but was later removed. The statues, as well as the gate and the stunning view, of course, remain.
The scenes in the glass pavilion were also filmed at Leopoldskron but the pavilion or gazebo was later moved to another location at Hellbrunn Palace.
Some shots of the villa were done at Leopoldskron and other exterior shots of the house were filmed at Frohnburg castle, like the scene where the Captain watches the children arrive in a boat with Maria. The captain is standing at Frohnburg castle but the boat is arriving at Leopoldskron. For reference click the camera icon in the image section above and watch the short video.
The interior scenes at von Trapp house were filmed in the Fox studios in Los Angeles.
