The filming scenes containing the entrance and courtyard of the abbey are captured at the Nonnberg Abbey in Salzburg, Austria. The scenes at the iron gate when Maria steps out of the monastery to the street are filmed on the south side of the Nonnberg monastery. The scenes from the courtyard, when Maria stands in front of the cross and delivers the above line, are filmed on the inner side of the iron gate.
