“Luca Brasi held a gun to his head, and my father told him that either his brains or his signature would be on the contract…”

Michael Corleone

Where did they film Connie´s wedding scenes?

The filmmakers used the backyard of the same house they used for the Corleone´s House in New York scenes. The exact location is 110 Longfellow Avenue on Staten Island in New York City.

Although the garden is still there, you won’t find the high wall surrounding the area. The filmmakers made the wall out of plastic and used it for the filming. After they finished the movie, they dismantled the wall and put it in its original state.

Important: The house with its garden in the 110 Longfellow Avenue is private property and not open to the general public.

The scenes filmed in the backyard of 110 Longfellow Avenue:

Connie´s Wedding scenes had quite a few memorable moments in film history.

  • One of them was the scene where the whole Corleone family gathered for a group photo. When he was told that Michael hasn’t arrived yet Don Vito Corleone refused to take the photo.
  • The scene in which Key Adams and Michael Corleone discussed the business of the Corleone family is also in the backyard near the house. After Johnny Fontane (Al Martino) began to sing, Michael told Kay how Johnny became a star with the help of his father. Although Kay insists that Michael tells her the whole story, she is still in shock after hearing it. Michael then added and assured her that this is his family and not him.
  • In the middle of Corleone´s garden, they build a stage and a dancing floor for the guests. The performers brought Don Vittos wife, Carmela Corleone (Morgana King) to the stage, where she had to sing the famous Italian song C’è la luna mezzo mare
  • The part of the street that was in front of the entrance to the courtyard, was used as a parking lot on the wedding day. It was the scene where Santino ‘Sonny’ Corleone (James Caan) attacked and broke a camera of some photographer.
