When Catelyn Stark arrived at Kingslanding, where she wanted to warn Eddard Stark, she rode through this gate. The Kingslanding gate scene was filmed on Malta and the real gate is a part of an old medieval stronghold. Where did they film the “Catelyn Stark at King’s Landing Gate” scenes? 

The scenes of Catelyn Stark at the King’s Landing gate were filmed at the Mdina Gate in the old town of Mdina, Malta. The outer Gate and the defending bridge were used for the arrival scenes of Lady Catelyn while Piazza San Publiju, which lies inside of the Mdina Gate, was used for the scenes in the city.

Catelyn Stark arrives in King’s Landing

After the killing attempt on her son, Catelyn Stark (Michelle Fairley) decides to go to King´s Landing to inform Eddard ‘Ned’ Stark (Sean Bean) about the knife they found by the hitman. Ser Rodrik Cassel (Ron Donachie) is accompanying her for her safety. When they arrive through the gate into the city they are stopped by some guards who escort them to Longfingers Brothel.

In the city by the gate, Ned and Catelyn are saying goodbye to each other. Catelyn mentions that she would like to see their daughters before she leaves. But Ned refuses because it is too dangerous, at least until they know who their enemies are. Catelyn respond is that she fills in her bones that the Lannisters are responsible for the killing attempt. Then Lady Stark rides off with Ser Rodrik through the King´s Landing gate back north.
